Sometimes when doing a re-modeling project in a heritage home, a wall or a part of a wall may have to be moved or removed when creating a different layout. Then the original detailed wood trim and plastered crown mouldings will have to be matched on the new wall, which becomes a challenge for the contractor because typically, both will have to be custom made.
Here is an example of a plastered arch and cove crown moulding that needed some creative carpenter and plastering work in order to match up. The carpenter was able to create a template of the basic shape out of wood, that I was then able to build on with plaster. The end result was a seamless transition between the new and the old. Nobody would ever know by looking that it was repaired.
